Dear Dr. Brown:

I'm writing you at the suggestion of David Chudnovsky, who
told me that you might be interested in our project of a magazine
to be called %2Science and Technology Opinion%1 or perhaps
something like %2Scientist's Viewpoints%1. The enclosed partial
writeups give something of our ideas.

The main thing is that it's too bad that the most influential publication
forming the attitudes of scientists toward the intersection
of scientific and social issues is the %2News and Comment%1 section
of %2Science%1 which is written by non-scientist journalists.
They have the liberal and even anti-technological bias typical
of American journalists. The political and social opinions of
scientists are very influential, and it is important that
a journal opinion expressing other than standard liberal views
on these issues exist.

We need an editor, an editorial board, a refinement of the plan, and
a source of subsidy. Any ideas you have on the subject would be most
welcome.

.sgn
